Legend: Link River (shown above) is the
shortest river in the World.
Status: False.
Discussion: Some years ago the 1.5-mile-long
Link River was billed as the shortest river in the world, but two
shorter rivers have since been recognized by the Guiness Book of
World Records.
The D River in Lincoln City, Oregon, flows from
Devils Lake into the Pacific Ocean, traveling a distance of anywhere
from 120 feet to 440 feet, depending on the tide.

Panoramio.
The Roe River flows about 200 feet from a spring into
the Missouri River near Great Falls, Montana.

It has also been stated that the Link River is the
shortest river in the world that is entirely within the city limits
of a municipality. However, this point might also be disputed, as
the D River is entirely within the city limits of Lincoln City, at
least to the point where it enters the public beach.
Guiness no longer has a category for shortest river. |
