What we know about this photo:
This appears to be the ballroom of the Willard
Hotel, constructed in 1926. The
gentleman at front and center is in an easy chair. A
boy at far left, and another at far right, are
holding accordions. Today this space
serves at the Linkville Theater. This photo -- a
beautiful exposure -- was taken by well-known
photographer May King.
According to one source, the boy with
the accordion at far left is probably Dale Hurlbut,
one of many students who studied the accordion under
Doris Frederick in the 1940s.
What we don't know: What
was the occasion for this photo?
