OVERVIEW
OF THE POSITION
Provides psychiatric services to clients
with mental or emotional disturbances, substance abuse problems, retardation
and developmental disabilities; clinical duties may require differential
diagnosis, individualized treatment plans, clinical presentations. Prescribes
psychiatric medications and provides medication evaluations and medication
management. Must pass a criminal background check prior to offer of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
t Responsible for psychiatric decisions that require an M.D./D.O. degree; refers administrative questions on overall
policies to Director.
t Review and approve individual treatment plans and other
documentation required by Medicaid/Medicare and other policy regulations.
t Performs psychiatric evaluations, including differential
diagnoses.
t Writes or dictates case notes, letters and reports to maintain
up-to-date records; documents ongoing activity in each individual's file, in
accordance with state and federal requirements; maintains written contact with
individuals and community agencies.
t Prescribes psychiatric medications and collaborates on case
management with professional staff.
t Provides consultation and training regarding medications to other
treatment staff and providers.
t Educates individuals regarding the appropriate use of medication
and its side effects.
t Provides advice and consultation on general health care needs of
individuals.
t Provides individual and group consultation and training to mental
health staff and local providers.
t Coordinates individual health care with medical community when
needed.
t Perform other duties as assigned.
OCCUPATIONAL
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES
t Licensed by the State of Oregon Board of Medical Examiners in
accordance with ORS 677.100 to practice psychiatric medicine.
t Current Driver's License
t Board eligible for certified in psychiatry.
EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL PREPARATION
Graduation
from an accredited school of medicine and completion of an accredited residency
program in psychiatry; at least one year of professional psychiatric medical
experience.
EXCELLENT BENEFITS & COMPENSATION
This is a full-time
position with the Mental Health Department. The salary for this position is $16,666.67
per month. This position works 40 hours
per week; exact work schedules will be determined by management. This position
is represented by International Laborers Union, Local 121. This position is
classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA) making it non-
eligible for overtime pay.
