OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

Controls noxious weeds for individuals and agencies under contract with Klamath County. (Seasonal position not to exceed 6 months. Approximately May - September).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

¨      Controls noxious weeds by chemical application or utilization of hand tools on private property and property under the control of other agencies.

¨      Repairs and maintains County weed sprayers and vehicles.

¨      Maintains current Chemical Applicator's License by attending continuing education classes.

¨      Completes daily records of location, type, and application rate of chemicals applied.

 

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATES/LICENSESMUST OBTIAN ALL OF THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT

¨      Current Driver's License required

¨      Oregon All Terrain Vehicle Safety Education card

¨      CPR Certification required

¨      First Aid Certificate required

¨      Public Chemical Applicator's License required (Minimum categories – Regulatory Weed)

                                    

EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL PREPARATION

Experience or training in recognition and eradication of noxious weeds; thorough knowledge of Klamath County's road system and Oregon State Highway system.

 

EXCELLENT BENEFITS & COMPENSATION

This is a full-time seasonal position with the Public Works Department.  The starting hourly wage for this position is $14.49 per hour. Future increases are reviewed annually and are based upon performance and movement on a 7 step scale which extends up to a current maximum of $18.85 per hour. The normal work schedule for this position is 6:00 A.M. – 2:30 P.M. 5 days per week.  This position is classified as Non- exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and, therefore is eligible for overtime pay.
