OVERVIEW
OF THE POSITION
Performs inspections of building and
structures of all complexities in order to ascertain that plumbing and
mechanical codes are enforced in accordance with the State of Oregon and County
Ordinances.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
¨ Conducts plans reviews and field inspections of buildings and
structures for compliance with the Oregon State Plumbing and Mechanical Codes
as adopted by County Ordinance.
¨ Issues building permits and other construction and alteration
permits after computing related fees.
¨ Recommends or takes appropriate action to ensure compliance of
plumbing and mechanical installations with plans and applicable codes.
¨ Consults with and advises contractors and builders regarding
applicable regulations.
¨ Performs field checks of plumbing and mechanical installations.
¨ Assists other departments, contractors and builders regarding
applicable regulations.
¨ Interprets Plumbing and Mechanical Code requirements;
investigates violations and takes appropriate action.
¨ Answers code related questions and assist the public at the
counter.
OCCUPATIONAL
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES
¨ State Certification at the "A" Level Plumbing
Inspector.
¨ State Certification at the "A" Level Mechanical
Inspector.
¨ Oregon Driver's License
EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL
PREPARATION
¨ At least 3-5 years experience working in jobs having similar
duties or knowledge of principles and practices of plumbing and mechanical
codes and government legal procedures, as well as understanding terminology in
the area of plumbing and mechanical codes and regulations, materials,
techniques and accepted safety standards.
EXCELLENT BENEFITS & COMPENSATION
This is a
full-time position with the Community Development Department. The starting
salary for this position is $23.46 per hour. Future increases are reviewed
annually and are based upon performance and movement on a 7 step scale which
extends up to a current maximum of $29.70 per hour. The normal work schedule is
8 hours per day, 5 days per week. This position is classified as Non-Exempt
under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA) and therefore is eligible for
overtime pay.
